Celtic Art by David Rankine
|
My voyage into Celtic art began while at art school
(York University), albeit surreptitiously as Celtic art was viewed as a decorative art
form. I sensed right away that there was more to it. At that time, I was already immersed in Celtic music and dance and to me the intricate patterning, rhythm within rhythm, and sense of fluid circular movement made sense to me. |
| After a number of years of painting in the Celtic style, I came to realize that the "controlled chaos" apparent in Celtic art reflects the Celtic world view - that of constant change, the interconnected and interdependent nature of all life, and matter, and the transmutability of form, matter and energy. | |
